Home art. From wall to masterpiece.
“Do you have a work of art at home that is very valuable to you?” The Stadsredactie of the Centraal Museum asked residents of various Utrecht neighborhoods.

The question provided stories about families, about important milestones in life and about bright spots in difficult times. Everyone has their own taste and reasons for cherishing works of art. The similarity in these stories is the role of the artworks in the lives of their owners. For example, art brings them comfort, a cherished memory or aesthetic pleasure. This exhibition temporarily brings works of art and their stories from more than twenty Utrecht living rooms to the museum.
Register your own art
Utrecht residents who have art at home that tells a special story can register their artwork for the exhibition until July 20. This can be done by sending an email with a photo of the work and the story behind it - who made it, why is it on the wall? - to dewijk@centraalmuseum.nl. The two works with the most remarkable stories will be on display in the exhibition from 1 September.
De Stadsredactie
Home art has been compiled by De Stadsredactie. De Stadsredactie consists of seven Utrecht residents who live in neighborhoods where the museums reach is limited. These Utrecht residents advise the museum about exhibitions and activities. Members of De Stadsredactie are active in the neighborhood where they live, know many people there and often volunteer. The works from Home art have been collected within their networks.
