City column: Van Baaren Foundation 70 years

In the Column, Utrecht residents from all neighborhoods talk about the meanings that flowers have for them. The reason for the exhibition is the 70th anniversary of the Van Baaren Foundation, which supports many social projects in the city of Utrecht.
Van Baaren Foundation 70th Anniversary Program
This exhibition is part of Van Baaren's 70th anniversary program. Lambertus (1888-1964) and Josephina (1890-1959) van Baaren were avid art collectors. In total, they purchased around 400 works, mostly paintings by French and Dutch artists between 1850 and 1950. In 1956, brother and sister set up the Van Baaren Museum Foundation to secure their collection. In 1980, this foundation loaned all works to the Centraal Museum on long-term loan. In addition to the exhibition in the City Column, the anniversary will be discussed at two locations in the museum. In the Utrecht Lokaal, Sophie Steengracht & Lydia Radda - Dream of a seed on display, an exhibition that highlights the Van Baaren collection from a contemporary perspective. In Central Collection the 'Taste differences' room is dedicated to the Van Baaren collection.
Featured in the Column
View of Flowers can be seen in the Column. In the Column, we present exhibitions curated by De Stadsredactie. The City Editors consists of seven Utrecht residents who live in neighborhoods where the museum's reach is limited. These Utrecht residents advise the museum about exhibitions and activities. Members of De Stadsredactie are active in their own neighborhoods, know many people there and often volunteer.
