Annex: Mathias Poledna
In My Favorite Shop (2024), artist Mathias Poledna brings together fashion, music and echoes of art history.

In this film installation, models walk barefoot along the catwalk to driving techno beats. On view in the Annex, the work is the latest by Austrian artist Mathias Poledna (Vienna, 1956).
The colours of the silk dresses are inspired by Italian Renaissance frescoes, linking the world of fashion to a much longer visual tradition. As the film builds, a final model appears in deep red, carrying an striking accessory that brings the sceneto a dramatic close.
Poledna’s films are known for their precision and subtle tension, where polished images hint at deeper cultural and political meanings. My Favorite Shop invites you to see the present as something shaped by layers of memory where past and present continually overlap.
On display in the Annex
My Favorite Shop is presented in the Annex as part of Gerard van Honthorst - Different to Rembrandt. This space is located in the final gallery of the former stables of the Agnieten Convent. Here, contemporary art offers a fresh perspective on the main exhibition.
