Grief is a strange state of being. Grief alienates and makes you lonely. We avoid the topic and we even avoid people who grieve for fear of doing or saying the wrong thing. The emptiness that comes with loss, the emptiness that someone carries, is infinitely palpable, but cannot be seen, heard or felt on the outside.
In the installation disappear director Kenza Koutchoukali, musician Tessa Douwstra and designer Marlou Breuls are trying to make that emptiness visible, tangible and audible. The installation is On view September 12 to 14 as part of Gaudeamus Festival and will open on Thursday evening, September 11, with three performances by Tessa Douwstra.
