Video art in the windows of the Centraal Museum.
Aan de gevel van het museumgebouw heeft het museum 6 led-schermen geïnstalleerd waar op maat gemaakte videokunst kan worden getoond. Dit past in de ambitie van het museum om meer buiten de eigen muren zichtbaar te zijn. De schermen zijn achter zes vensters van het neogotische gebouw geplaatst, knipogend naar de traditie van glas-en-lood ramen in de Gotiek.
Omdat de vertoningsvorm zo afwijkend is, vragen we een kunstenaar of collectief een nieuw werk te maken of een bestaand werk aan te passen voor de gevel. Hierbij is de opdracht dat het inhoudelijk aansluit bij het onderwerp van de hoofdtentoonstelling die dan in het museum plaatsvindt. Zo wordt er dus drie keer per jaar een werk meerdere weken achterelkaar vertoond parallel aan de looptijd van de tentoonstelling. Een aantal van de nieuwe producties wordt ook verworven voor de collectie.
Raamcarrousel
In de periode dat de grote tentoonstellingszalen in ombouw zijn en er dus geen bijpassende video is, toont het museum de Raamwerkcollectie als in een carrousel. Dan is er iedere opeenvolgende dag een ander werk te zien en wordt de collectie die stilaan groeit steeds weer opnieuw ingezet. De Raamwerkcarrousel is als een ode aan de caleidoscopische verzameling van het museum; bont en afwisselend.
