Tess van Zalinge - Keurslijf
In 2026, fashion designer Tess van Zalinge will celebrate her tenth anniversary.

In 2026, fashion designer Tess van Zalinge celebrates her tenth anniversary with her first solo exhibition at the Centraal Museum, the first museum to acquire her work. Van Zalinge is known for her radical approach: she aims to break free from the confines of the fashion industry by questioning the system from within. In the exhibition, her designs will engage in a dialogue with works from the Centraal Museum's fashion collection, focusing on themes such as care, value, and connection. In addition to fashion, contemporary art will also be on display. For Van Zalinge, textiles are never merely material, but rather carriers of stories, craftsmanship, and time. With 'Keurslijf', she invites reflection: what does it mean to preserve clothing, and what does a garment tell us about ourselves and our world?
More information about the exhibition will follow soon.
Button Collection
Leading up to the exhibition, we are collecting buttons for a special project. Buttons in various shades of white, in all shapes and sizes. Do you have any white buttons lying around at home or come across them somewhere? Bring them to Museumcafé Centraal and leave your button in the No Waste Chair by Kees Dekkers.
Designer Kees Dekkers is known for transparent chairs that he fills with materials normally discarded, from face masks and cosmetic products to clothing and other waste streams. By literally taking a seat here, you are confronted with everything we throw away. Buttons, too, are easily lost, lie in a drawer for years, or are thoughtlessly discarded. But not these buttons!
On display in De Verdieping
Keurslijf will be on display in De Verdieping from December 12, 2026. For De Verdieping, we invite artists, designers, and collectives to present their own work in relation to the Centraal Museum's collection. De Verdieping is located on the second floor of the former Agnietenklooster.
