Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the 2010 banking crisis, Piet Hein Eek created a series of ‘crisis furniture’: affordable furniture assembly sets, to be put together by the buyer. But as it turned out, people preferred to buy ready-made furniture, and the designer was left with lots of DIY sets. When corona erupted, the world was once again in the throes of a crisis. For Eek it was an opportunity to bring out his crisis furniture pieces again. This time painted pink, the sets now serve as the Corona Crisis Collection. [text 2023]
