A recurrent theme in René Daniels’s work is the exhibition space, which he depicts as the surfaces that make up the walls. Sometimes the result is a clearly-defined space, where paintings also hang. Sometimes the shape is more reminiscent of a bow tie. This repeated motif is always given a different twist by the wordplay in the titles. In this case, the canvas itself with its seven painted artworks forms the exhibition. [text 2023]
