WALKER ART CENTER 9 November 1981 Mrs. Truus Schröder/Schrader Prins Hendriklaan 50 Utrecht The Netherlands Dear Mr s. Schröder/Schrader: On 31 January 1982, Walker Art Center will present the international premiere of De Stijl; 1917-1931, Visions of Utopia. I write in the hope you will join us for the celebration and other activities marking this major exhibition's opening. On Saturday evening, 30 January 1982, there will be a special preview of the exhibition which will be attended by a number of Dutch and American dignitaries. This will provide an opportunity for visitors to see the Walker Art Center in action. I hope you will also join us for cocktails and dinner from 7:30 - 9:00 that evening. Though a festive event, this will not be a black tie opening. Among those who will attend are Dutch Ambassador J.H. Lubbers and former United States Ambassador Geri Joseph, who, as a member of the Art Center's Board of Directors, has played an important role in the exhibition *s development. On Sunday, 31 January, several eminent European and American scholars will present an illustrated symposium on De Stijl in Walker Art Center's auditorium. This promises to be a lively event of interest to the public as well as to scholars. Enclosed you will find a Schedule of events related to the opening as well as an RSVP card.
