WALKER ART CENTER o l j-^X Cl 1 03-g-igöij Mrs. Truus Schroder-Schrader Prins Hendriklaan 50 Utrecht, The Netherlands Dear Mrs. Schroder: It is summer's end and I realize that this letter is long overdue. I know you will understand that my poor correspondence is a result of work on the De Stijl exhibition, which, incidentally, is going very well. I hope that this letter finds you in good health and that you were able to enjoy your garden in these last months. You have undoubtedly seen the wonderful photographs that Frank den Oudsten has taken of the house. They will make a wonderful section in the exhibition catalogue and in the exhibition itself, where we plan to enlarge them to create the environment of the building, both inside and out. We know that these photographs could not have been made without your great cooperation and advice and we also realize that there was a good deal of incon-venience involved for you — cleaning help, etc. I hope you will accept the enclosed check as a token of our appreciation for all your efforts in this regard, to defray any expenses you may have had on our behalf. We do regret that Gerrit Oorhthuys was unable to complete his essay in time for its inclusion in the catalogue. He tells me that it will be published in another form, and I'm glad of that. We replaced his essay with an excellent article by architecture critic Martin Filler on Rietveld's furniture. The architecture is discussed in a piece by Sergio Polano and in another by Kenneth Frampton. Again, we greatly appreciate your interest and assistance, and look forward to future opportunities to be with you.
