In 1917 the Centraal Museum made history by appointing the first-ever curator for fashion, inaugurating a 100-year tradition of collecting and showcasing fashion. From 18th century gowns to spectacular creations of Viktor & Rolf, Iris van Herpen and Jan Taminiau, fashion features prominently both in the collection and in the major exhibitions regularly organised at the museum.
