Shertise Solano - Move You Fool
Tarot and art have more in common than you might think. Both can stir something within you. In Move You Fool, Shertise Solano invites you to explore art through the lens of tarot.
You stand before a work of art and feel something. You don’t know exactly why it moves you, but it does. Art reflects something of who you are, of where you are in your life at that moment. The image opens up a thought, a feeling, or an insight that was already within you but had not yet taken shape. Drawing a tarot card works in the same way. The cards do not predict your future, but act as a mirror that allows you to pause and reflect on personal questions.
An encounter between art and tarot
This solo exhibition by Shertise Solano brings art and tarot together in an innovative way. Step into a multimedia experience where you can try your hand at the cards yourself.
In Move You Fool, Solano presents her latest work, which takes tarot cards as its starting point. She held several tarot sessions with curator of modern art Catrien Schreuder. Their conversations about tarot, art and life form the basis of this exhibition. What do you discover when you look at art through the lens of tarot?
About Shertise Solano
Shertise Solano (Rotterdam, 1982) trained as an actor at the Utrecht School of the Arts. She specialised in the Jacques Lecoq method, which focuses on the body and movement. After years in the theatre world, Solano shifted her focus to visual art. She works across various disciplines—collage, animation, video and spatial installations—always taking the body as her starting point. Tarot cards play an important role in Solano’s personal life.

How do you create an exhibition that does not begin with a fixed art-historical narrative, but with a different way of seeing? For Move You Fool, artist Shertise Solano collaborated with curator Catrien Schreuder on an exhibition in which tarot is not about prediction, but reflection.
On display at Another Story
Move You Fool will be on display at Another Story from 14 February. For De Verdieping, we invite artists, designers and collectives to present their own work in relation to the Centraal Museum collection. De Verdieping is located on the second floor of the former Agnietenklooster.
Activity programme
Move You Fool will be explored in greater depth over its run through a series of Tarot encounters. On each of these Sundays, we explore a different stage of a cycle with a beginning, a growth phase and an ending, creating space for new insights, deeper understanding and closure. Each encounter combines drop-in Tarot readings with a themed programme element, such as a workshop or talk.
