In april 1966 werd de Art Directors Club Nederland (ADCN) opgericht. Leden zijn artdirectors, copywriters, fotografen, ontwerpers/vormgevers, illustratoren, regisseurs, componisten en producers. Vanaf 1967 worden jaarlijks vakprijzen, de zogenaamde ADCN-lampen, uitgereikt. In 1973 was het Centraal Museum het toneel van de prijsuitreiking.
