This bronze coloured men's coat in tufted velvet is an exceptionally fine example. At the end of the eighteenth century most men’s jackets were made of silk and were lavishly embroidered. This velvet example is nevertheless no less luxurious and of good quality than the more usual men's jackets at the time.
