Mori's stylised, asymmetric designs combine Japanese and European elements. Her first couture show in 1965 in New York was called East meets West. In this respect, Mori has been a great inspiration for the younger generation of Japanese designers, including Kenzo, Issey Miyake and Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme des Garçons.
