Growing up in two cultural worlds forms the background to Mina Abouzahra’s designs. By taking existing western designs and recasting them anew, she establishes connections between different cultures. Her love for both the Netherlands and Morocco is expressed in the Abouzahra X Rietveld Lounge Chair. Wim Rietveld’s functionalist chair from 1959 was very modern for its time. Abouzahra gives this Dutch design a contemporary look using handwoven, colourful Moroccan fabric.[text 2023]
