This is a personal protest against the modern fashion world, in which everything seems to be fast and superficial. It is designer Ronald van der Kemp's decision to create new, exclusive collections by using existing materials and different style combinations. This full-length dress from Wardrobe Three, created from an old bale of Toile de Jouy, is an outstanding example. The fabric design is recognisable from the 18th century skirt made from similar material. But here it is translated into a contemporary design with references to costume history, such as the padded cap sleeves. After having worked for top international labels, including Celine and Wolford, for many years, van der Kemp made a come-back with his own label RVDK in 2015. With success. The designer disregards themes and seasons in his collections and completely relies on his creativity. He calls his work demi-couture; it has the price ticket of luxurious ready-to-wear design labels but includes a lot of hand work and is sometimes made to measure. He now dresses stars such as Kate Moss and Doutzen Kroes.
