Blast II

Blast II

In 2008, Schuil’s Blast paintings introduced a new dynamic composition. The subject - a schematic drawing of an explosion - is a familiar image in the art of comics and cartoons. In paintings, however, this central design of an uneven star, with its points spreading to the edges of the surface, is highly unusual; as if the vanishing point is exploding right before the viewer’s eyes.
