This aluminium chair has an organic look, but the design was in fact created through computer calculations. To develop his Bone Chair, Joris Laarman used software developed by the automotive industry. Based on growth models of bones, the program calculates how to create the strongest possible construction using the least amount of material. Car parts can be thicker in some places and thinner in others, just like mammalian bones. This chair is the result of applying this principle.  [text 2023]
