Jurk 'Tuschinsky'
"A Fong Leng creation allows me to finally be the woman I really want to be", this according to Mathilde Willink (1938-1977), who was Holland's most famous muse, living work of art, and a mystery, in the 1970's. The extravagant Mathilde de Doelder became the third wife of artist Carel Willink in 1969. She drapes herself in Fong Leng's colourful creations and refers to them as her 'second skin'. As regular customer, muse and ambassador to Fong Leng she buys more than thirty unique pieces, including this dress, titled Tuschinksy. According to the designer her creations are not fashion, but 'mobile works of art'. The extravagant coat dresses and multi-coloured skirts reflect Willink's theatrical taste. The girl from Zeeland was both admired and criticised for this: "With seven hundred years of Puritan blood flowing through your veins you're not supposed to flaunt yourself like I do. But I'd rather be vilified and idolised than be a grey mouse."
