On a few Thursdays a year, Centraal Museum keeps its door open until late to welcome more art, local creatives and curious crowds to a special event: Centraal Laat. During these evenings, the exhibition spaces are filled with live music and performances. Guests are invited to get involved through workshops and lectures. Designed in close collaboration with Utrecht locals and newcomers, each Centraal Laat draws from the topics of the current exhibition to offer to the guests a new, refreshing experience.

On 4 April, Centraal Museum and FAAM Utrecht will join forces and treat you to a surprising programme with live music, workshops, panel talks and unique speed tours through the exhibition In Focus. The line-up will be complemented by musical live acts by DJ Guenter Råler together with Telemagic and DJ Minka. Sanneke Kleingeld and Victor Bontje will provide a special workshop painting with sound. Don't miss it, book your tickets now!

Collabsletten workshop

Get to work in the Museum Café and create your own still life on the windows of the café. Together with Collabsletten, you will be looking at the space around you in a different way and draw shapes and bodies you encounter in your surroundings.

Panel talks

Join creators and thinkers Jhonie van Boeijen, Anouk van Amsterdam and Nonna Hoogland in a conversation about the appropriation of the female body, the role of historical and contemporary visual culture in the art of the new generation and the question of whose realism is photorealism.

Speed tours

Take off your rose-coloured glasses for a moment and take a fresh look at the exhibition In Focus. In a fast pace (max. 15 minutes), experienced guides will take you around the art works. Get to know different gazes: the male and female gaze. Discover the gender structures that have (had) an influence on the creation of work in In Focus and engage in a conversation about the changing dynamics between art and gender.

Guenter Råler is an Italian producer, DJ and visual artist now based  in the Netherlands. Their DJing style focuses on avant-garde electronic music, baile funk, edits and unconventional rhythms, crossing between different genres in a high-energy journey. They debuted at Lentekabinet, ADE, HÖR radio, Le Guess Who? and Garage Noord, playing with the likes of Giant Swan, Clara!, Himera, Torus, Danny L. Harle, Kedr Livanskiy, Object Blue and more.

Guenter Råler is currently a resident DJ at Stranded FM radio, where  they host an experimental/future club show called 'Sound Extremism', and are an organizer of queer events with Queer in Wonderland, FLUID. and CLUB Hits Different.

Their layered and finely crafted productions blend trance-y high pitched synths and weightless elements, alternating raw beats with ethereal and emotionally-charged atmospheres. Listen to Guenter Råler here.

Collective Telemagic explores the art and technology world through multi-sensory interventions. "Spiritual surfers" Cyanne van den Houten, Ymer Marinus and Roos Groothuizen create an immersive experience during DJ Guenter Råler's live set during Centraal Laat.

DJ MINKA

MINKA alternates between moods and genres as much as she alternates between cities (Utrecht, Oslo, Berlin, and recently Rotterdam). These shifting landscapes speak in her selections: experimental and percussive electronic music, all tinged with a little gloom. Listen to MINKA here.

Painting with sound

Create your own soundtrack to a work from the collection accompanied by props, such as microphones and materials that produce sound. The workshop will be led by Sanneke Kleingeld and Victor Bontje.
