Centraal Museum in Oud Amelisweerd
Hedendaagse kunst in historische buitenplaats.
Van 2022 tot en met 2026 is het Centraal Museum te gast in Landhuis Oud Amelisweerd. Deze prachtige, historische buitenplaats vormt vijf jaar lang, van de lente tot en met de herfst, het decor voor een solotentoonstelling van een gerenommeerde Nederlandse kunstenaar van nu.
Artist-driven tentoonstellingen
Op de eerste verdieping van het landhuis brengt het Centraal Museum tentoonstellingen waarbij de kracht van kunst leidend is. ‘Artist-driven’, wat betekent dat elke kunstenaar een open podium krijgt om werk en wensen te presenteren in wisselwerking met de historische kamers. Zo wordt van deze historische buitenplaats een actuele vrijplaats gemaakt, waar zowel kunstliefhebber als parkbezoeker wordt getrakteerd op een bijzondere kunstervaring.
Het Centraal Museum is geen vreemde in het landhuis. Eind jaren tachtig, toen het in zwaar weer verkeerde, ontfermden enkele museummedewerkers zich over het landhuis en organiseerden er tentoonstellingen. Arjan den Boer schreef een blog over de museale historie van Oud Amelisweerd. Met deze reeks tentoonstellingen draagt het Centraal Museum opnieuw bij aan het levend houden van dit Utrechtse erfgoed, en geeft de bezoeker daarmee een traktatie op kunst.
