This hanging lavabo (Latin for ‘I will wash’) has a spout on two sides, which made it easy to pour the water. Lavabos were used in the home for washing hands before a meal. They also hung in churches and chapels for ritual hand washing during the mass. This metal example was expensive and either belonged to a wealthy individual or hung in a church.
