The Dane Claes Iversen moved to the Netherlands in 1998 and began studying at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague four years later. He showed his first collection while studying for the Master Fashion Design in Arnhem in 2007. Iversen's work is identifiable by its feminine silhouette while focussing on skilled workmanship and creating the perfect fit. In 2013 the Centraal Museum asked Iversen to design an outfit for the 'Guest of the Year' for the Nederlands Film Festival (NFF). Claes Iversen created an ankle length dress in two shades of pale green silk crepe georgette, entirely decorated with glass beads and with horizontal pleats on both sides. The delicate dress was made for director and script writer Paula van der Oest (1965) and stems from the 2014 spring collection Vertical Illumination. Iversen was inspired by the changeable, rainy Dutch summers and visualised the raindrops with tendrils of sequins which reflect the light. This dress was worn for the first - and last - time at the opening gala of the NNF and has since been kept in storage at the Centraal Museum.
