Zomaar twee weken in het Centraal Museum. Maar ja, het ging in 1953 om een reizende tentoonstelling die door de Unesco was samengesteld, en waarop kleurenreproducties van allerlei meesterwerken te zien waren. Wel allemaal keurig voorzien van een passepartout. De samenstellers erkenden dat de reproducties niet konden tippen aan de originelen. Maar "(...) for many millions of people living far from the world's art centres they are essential to a greater understanding and appreciation of the world's art heritage."
