Museum Café Centraal
Right in the heart of the museum, and accessible without a museum ticket.
The museum café is the perfect place to unwind, either indoors in an inviting setting or outside on our terrace in the museum garden. Enjoy a good cup of coffee, lunch or drinks.
We work with local suppliers as much as possible. Our coffee comes from The Village, our vegan and gluten-free pastries from Rose & Vanilla, and our cakes from De Veldkeuken. For drinks, we serve wines from Grapedistrict or beers from Utrecht brewery Maximus.
The menu is entirely vegetarian, with plenty of plant-based and gluten-free options. It always ties in with the temporary exhibitions and evolves alongside our programme.
Our café is a member of the Gluten-Free Hospitality Alliance and has been awarded the Green Key Gold certification for sustainable business practices.
High tea
Fancy something special? Book a high tea and enjoy luxurious sandwiches, wraps, salads, sweet treats and organic tea.
The high tea menu also changes with the temporary exhibitions, so there’s always something new to try.
- High tea: €27.50 per person
- Deluxe high tea (including sparkling wine): €32.50 per person

Practical information
Our museum café is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Reservations are available for groups of 8 or more. Send an email to cafe@centraal museum.nl
The entrance to the museum café and our garden is located on Nicholaaskerkhof.
If you are not visiting the museum, you can access the museum café from outside. The entrance doors are 160 cm wide and have a 5 cm threshold.
As a museum visitor, you can also access the café through the museum. The café is located on the ground floor and has step-free access. From other floors, the café can be reached by lift.

- High chairs are available
- The toilets in the museum are gender-neutral. Near the museum café, two toilets and a changing table can be reached via the stairs. An accessible toilet and four toilets can be reached via the lift next to the café.
- Assistance dogs are welcome, provided they are wearing a harness.
- Our staff are happy to help, for example by reading the menu aloud or pouring and setting down drinks.
- The café does not have a low-stimulus room. It is generally busiest between 12:00 and 15:00.

Art in the café
In the café, you can discover our collection in a variety of ways. For example, a work of art from the collection is always displayed above the stairwell. At the moment, it is Rabbit with Flower by Quick.
All the chairs in the café are also part of the museum’s collection. They were designed by Dutch designers such as Gerrit Rietveld and Maarten Baas. Can you spot them?
