Use your phone as a museum guide. Listen to fascinating stories, view additional images and read background information, all on your own smartphone.
What is the media guide?
The media guide is a free digital guide available for the Centraal Museum’s major exhibitions. Rather than simply providing factual information, it offers surprising stories and different perspectives on the artworks. This allows you to discover not only what you are looking at, but also what makes an artwork special and the stories behind it. Combining audio, text and images, the media guide offers a fresh perspective that goes beyond traditional art history.
How do you use the media guide?
You can use the media guide on your own phone. There’s no need to download anything, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the museum. Scan the QR code at the entrance to the exhibition. Tip: bring your own earbuds or headphones.
The images make it easy to quickly see which objects have information available. You can also enter the number next to an artwork on the media guide screen to play a clip directly.
For those who prefer reading to listening, transcripts are included. The font size is adjustable, and there is a night mode. Most media guides are available in both Dutch and English.

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer media guides for past exhibitions. Usually, only the major exhibitions (in the Stables) have a media guide, although occasionally a smaller exhibition does too.
