This exhibition shows a selection of medieval sculptures dating from before the iconoclastic furies of 1566. Utrecht was the largest city of the northern Netherlands up until 1550, and the sculpture was flourishing. Unfortunately many sculptures were lost because of natural disasters, urban renewal or iconoclastic furies. The Centraal Museum has a collection of sculptures that survived that period. A selection of those sculptures can be seen in the Nicolaïchurch.
