About Laced Tight
This autumn sees the opening of fashion designer Tess van Zalinge’s first solo exhibition. Laced Tight marks the culmination of her tenth anniversary and offers a personal insight into her working methods, inspiration and vision of the fashion world. At the heart of this exhibition is a desire to restore appreciation for fashion and bring renewed meaning to the relationship between people and clothing. keurslijf holds special significance for Van Zalinge: in 2017, the Centraal Museum became the first museum to acquire one of her designs.
Ten years later, she returns with new designs, including pieces from her recent anniversary collection Laced Tight, which have never before been shown in a museum. In addition, together with fashion curator Ninke Bloemberg, she selected hidden gems from the Centraal Museum’s fashion collection that enter into dialogue with her own work.
Collaboration
Collaboration and bringing often invisible labour into view are key themes running through Tess van Zalinge’s work. In keurslijf, she literally opens the doors of her studio to reveal just how many people are behind a fashion collection. She also makes space for young makers who inspire her. For example, she invited artist and designer Tenant of Culture, artist Romy Yedidia and designer Gijs van Herwaarden to share their perspectives on the fashion system.
You too can be part of the creative process. For keurslijf we are collecting white buttons of all shapes and sizes. You can donate them at the museum café until 12 December. Soon, you will be able to help create a collaborative artwork in the exhibition.
On display at Another Story
Laced Tight will be on view in the exhibition space Another Story from 12 December 2026. For Another Story, we invite artists, designers and collectives to present their own work in relation to the Centraal Museum collection. Another Story is located on the second floor of the former convent.
