This ship's globe was found in attic of the sacristy in Utrecht cathedral. The globe depicts the eight-month voyage in 1731 of the VOC ship Berkenroode from Batavia (now Jakarta) to Texel, where trade and warships were anchored. Dutch merchants in the United East India Company established trading posts and plantations in the East, using brute force, slavery and the slave trade.
