Clothes both cover and reveal. In her graduation collection Judgement Seat, Dutch Moroccan designer Chaimae El Masmoudi investigates how these two extremes play a role in our behaviour. Having grown up between two cultures, El Masmoudi reflects on judgments and condemnations that stem from culture, faith and lifestyle. In this installation, she plays with varying numbers of layers of clothing to make it clear ‘that we are all equal, no matter which layer of clothing you feel most comfortable in.’ [text 2024]
