In her Crystal Virusseries, Pieke Bergmans melts together art and design, almost literally. She uses the stool as a kind of mould, blowing liquid glass on top of it. This way, the resulting glass vase and stool perfectly fit each other. The work can be interpreted in various ways. You can see the stool as the pedestal for the vase, or the vase as a parasite or ‘virus’ that has taken over the stool.[text 2023]
