In the series New Old Chairs, (textile) designer Simone Post breathes new life into old and discarded chairs. By treating the wood with a kind of batik technique, the chair seems reupholstered with paint. The chair shown here had lost its seat, and so Post weaved a new one using remnants of rope of diverse origin. This way, various styles and eras blend together to form a new and durable chair, while the original model remains visible.  [text 2023]
