Tetsumi Kudō experienced World War II as a child in Japan. He was only ten when the atom bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As an artist, he creates provocative work on serious themes like the destruction of nature and culture. He reveals the human urge to dominate with his seemingly innocent cages and aquariums which contain – on closer inspection – strange, dark things. They fit effortlessly into this ‘living room’ infused with bourgeois nostalgia. [text 2025]
