Tweedelig herenkostuum
In most museum collections menswear is very badly represented in proportion to womenswear: menswear is generally less subject to changing fashions and, as a result, is worn for longer. General wear and tear means that the quality is not up to museum standards. The Centraal Museum has fortunately been lucky enough to collect some special designs during recent years. The museum commissioned designer Hyun Yeu to design this dark wool suit specially for actor Jeroen Willems (1962-2012). Willems wore it with flair to the Nederlands Film Festival gala in 2012, where he was awarded with a prestigious Golden Calf. The Korean designer Hyun Yeu knows how to make his name in menswear, producing particular details and refined collections. Amongst the details which may be seen in this jacket are the sequins sewn on to the underside of the lapels: small sparks which now seem to refer to the glittering memories of Willems' family, friends and fans after his sudden death later in the same year.
