Some recently dated designs can also create museum challenges when conserving the garments for the future. Francisco van Benthum (1972) and Michiel Keuper (1970) were the men behind the successful fashion label Keupr/VanBenthm. They wanted their collections to make a statement against classic couture. They won the Robijn Fashion Award in 1997 with this ladies’ ensemble from the Caught in Colour collection. The bodice, trousers and hip padding are made from fake leather, satin and cotton. The design is now kept in isolation as the fake leather has become sticky. There is unfortunately hardly anything that can be done to avoid this process.
