Tjitske van Hettinga Tromp was taught by art consultant Henk Bremmer, who had painted from a young age himself. He recommended her watercolours and oil paintings to several Dutch collectors. The Van Baarens, too, fell for Hettinga's delicate style and tender tones. Lambertus mainly chose village scenes and still-lifes with pottery, Josephina preferred floral still-lifes. She bought no fewer than eight by the artist, including this one. [text 2023]
