"Fragments of clothes" is how the famous Dutch design duo Viktor & Rolf define this dress, which was specially made for the Hyères fashion festival in France in 1993. The voluminous skirt, the loose scraps of material and the delicate, distressed fabric give the impression that the dress has been buried for thousands of years. This theatrical design in torn blue-grey wool covered with silver coloured sequins was one of the reasons that Viktor Horsting (1969) and Rolf Snoeren (1969) returned home from the festival with the three most important prizes. This was also the moment of their international break through, under the name of Viktor & Rolf. They have more than lived up to the high expectations in the 25 years that have followed.
