De tentoonstelling "Vroege Engelse Aquarellen" werd georganiseerd als onderdeel van de "Britse Week" in Nederland in mei 1955. De tentoonstelling zou ook het Gemeentemuseum in Den Haag aandoen.

De aquarellen van onder meer John Constable, John Robert Cozens en William Turner maakten deel uit van de collectie van het Victoria & Albert Museum in Londen.

Een "aantrekkelijke expositie", kopte het Utrechts Nieuwsblad. In de Telegraaf van 21 mei 1955 een uitgebreid stuk van Kasper Niehaus over de kunst van het aquarelleren, waarvoor "veel gevoel, weinig verf en een grote plas water" nodig is.
