In addition to regularly staging exhibitions, the Centraal Museum also organises numerous activities such as tours, audiotours, lectures, debates, concerts, educational projects and exhibition guides for secondary education. The museum has an information centre providing background information on the collection, exhibitions, art and artists.
The museum has interesting programmes for every age group.
The dick bruna house
The dick bruna house was opened in February this year. The house focuses on Dick Bruna as a person and as an artist. Not only his famous drawings for children’s books are on display but also designs for book covers and posters.The exhibition includes games for children.The work of Dick Bruna is also explained at a height where children can read it. Texts in the dick bruna house are in Dutch, English and Japanese.
Every weekend there is an open studio, from 10.00 to 16.30. Between 12.00 and 16.30 supervised drawing and craftwork takes place (also with English-language supervision).
Kids 6-12
In the Centraal Museum there is plenty to keep kids busy! Audio tours, workshops, birthday parties, guided tours, parent + child activities, school programmes. With the audio tour Herrie en Gefluister (Noise and Whispers) children aged 6 to 12 years can learn about the inhabitants of the museum or take part as a group in a school programme. All activities are in Dutch.
13 to 17
The museum has themed tours for the permanent collection and viewing guides for exhibitions for school groups. These are only available in Dutch.
18 to 25
The Centraal Museum has a youth committee, Xpose, comprising seven working young people and students. Xpose organises activities and twice a year stages an exhibition in the museum.
